Ketamine treatment in Lakewood

Ketamine treatment is a medical treatment for depression that has not improved enough with other care. At CMHS it is given by our medical team as intramuscular (IM) treatments, after medical screening, and you are monitored throughout. It is a self-pay service, separate from our intensive outpatient program.

Ketamine here is given as IM (intramuscular) treatments, not IV infusions. That means an injection into a muscle, given by our medical team, rather than a drip into a vein. You are monitored throughout and rest with us afterwards until the immediate effects have worn off.

Ketamine itself is used off-label for depression, which means it is prescribed for a use its FDA approval does not cover. Esketamine, sold as Spravato, is a related nasal spray that is FDA-approved for certain types of depression. Our medical team can explain what off-label use means for you.

Adults with depression that has not improved enough with other treatments, such as antidepressants or therapy, may be candidates. Whether ketamine is right for you is decided after medical screening by our team, which reviews your health, your history and everything you take. If it is not the right option, we will explain why and talk through other support that may help.

Ketamine treatment is self-pay and is not billed to insurance, including the plans we accept for our other services. Pricing can change, so contact admissions for current pricing and what it includes. You will know the cost before you commit to anything.

Ketamine is a separate medical treatment, not part of our intensive outpatient program, and you do not need to be enrolled in the program to ask about it. If you need more support than ketamine alone, the program offers group and individual therapy with psychiatry built in.

Ketamine is not the right option for everyone: some medical and psychiatric conditions make it unsafe, and some medications need reviewing first. Screening decides whether it is appropriate for you, and if it is not, the team explains why and helps you look at other options.
